From:
Dorothy Kent (1888-1981), was the daughter of Rockwell and Sara Ann Holgate Banker Kent, sister to Kent and their brother, Douglas.
Dorothy moved from the Kent family home, near Tarrytown, NY, to the vicinity of San Juan Pueblo, New Mexico, where she resided until her death in 1981.
Little is known of her early life and visual arts training, however, her artistic legacy shows that she was an accomplished painter, lithographer and watercolorist, as well as, a violinist. Dorothy's compositions are similar to Kent's in that she reduces nature to highly stylized modeled forms. Dorothy participated in the 1917, Society of Independent Artists exhibition, held in New York, along with her brother and her nephew, Rocky. It is believed that she exhibited nationally, as well as regionally, throughout her life, including a show of her watercolors at the Lucien Labaudt Art Gallery in San Francisco, 1954.
