Donald Leibowitz ALLENTOWN - Donald Leibowitz died Saturday, June 8, 2013, at home. He was 81. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Donald resided in Lawrenceville and East Windsor before moving to Allentown nine years ago. He graduated from the City College of New York with a degree in physics, followed by both a master's in physics and a master's in economics. He spent many years developing energy policy for the City of Trenton as president of TDEC of the Trigen Energy Corporation, and energy coordinator with the New Jersey Department of Treasury. After retiring from TDEC in 2000, his passion for teaching led him back to the classroom at the College of New Jersey, where he taught as an adjunct professor from 2001 to 2008. Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Karen Beck Leibowitz; four sons, Dan Leibowitz and his wife, Sandy, of Hamilton, NJ; Matthew Leibowitz of Brooklyn, NY; Lawrence Leibowitz of Manhattan, NY, and Jon Stewart and his wife, Tracy, also of Manhattan, NY; his sister, Ruth Portner and her husband, Frank, of Virginia Beach, VA, and five grandchildren, Eliana, Benjamin and Abigail Leibowitz and Nathan and Maggie Stewart. Funeral services will be held today, June 9, at 9:45 a.m. at Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, Cranbury Road at Evergreen Boulevard, East Brunswick.
