Davis

My grandmother was Sarah Ann Davis who lived in Deloraine Tasmania. She was born on the 8th of September 1877 George John Upston was born on the 10th July 1873 in Westbury. Sarah met George years later and they married. They lived in Deloraine and had nine children. George enlisted to go to war in 1914 to 1919 and was part of the 12th Bettalion that went France to help fight the Germans. When George Upston returned to Tasmania after the war he resumed his trade as a carpenter. It is beleived that he was involved in the making of the famous Jimmy Possum chairs in Deloraine. He apparently made two chairs that was known of but, they were destroyed in a house fire.George died on the 12th of July 1943 at the age of70 and is buried in Deloraine. Sarah Upston (Davis) died on the 5th of February 1974 at the age of 96 and is buried with her husband at Deloraine Tasmania.
