David Stone, of Great Bromley in Essex

He was the eldest son and was called "Davy". He was born at the end of the reign of Edward IV, also living under Edward V (1483), Richard III(1482-1485), Henry VII (1485-1509), and Henry VIII (1509-1517). David Stone was born in Great Bromley and later moved to Kirby-le-Soken about six miles away. No will has been found, and the name of his wife is not known.

Origins

Simon Stone was born in Ardleigh, co. Essex about 1450. He had an estate in Ardleigh called "Walles" and an estate in the adjoining parish of Great Bromley called "Goodenes".Five succeeding generations of Stones lived in Great Bromley, also called Much Bromley. Simon Stone died between 1506 and 1510. His original will is in the Stone Collection in the British Museum in London.
