At age 14, he and his father moved to Smithville, Missouri. After C.R. married, they lived in Scott County, Indiana, and then back in Missouri. They moved to Montana in 1913 to a location 8 miles south of Ekalaka where they lived until 1927, when they moved to Baker, Montana.
