Births: At Naples, Tuesday, 22 March 1831, the lady of Sir Edward Blackett, Bart. of Matfen Hall, Northumberland, of a son and heir.

He married Hon. Julia Frances Somerville, daughter of Kenelm Somerville, 17th Lord Somerville and Frances Louisa Hayman, on 23 November 1871 at St. Marylebone Church, Marylebone, London, England.

He died on 13 September 1909 at age 78.

He was the son of Sir Edward Blackett, 6th Bt. and Julia Monck.

He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.

He fought in the Crimean War between 1854 and 1855, and was seriously wounded at the Redan.

He was decorated with the award of Knight, Legion de Honneur.

He gained the rank of Major in 1862 in the service of the Rifle Brigade.

He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1870.

He held the office of Aide-de-Camp to HM Queen Victoria in 1878.

He gained the rank of Colonel in 1878.

He was invested as a Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.).

He gained the rank of Honorary Major-General in 1881.

He succeeded to the title of 7th Baronet Blackett, of Newcastle, co. Northumberland [E., 1673] on 23 November 1885.

He held the office of High Sheriff of Northumberland in 1889.
