About Cheryl Rae Tiegs

Cheryl Rae Tiegs is an American model and actress.

NOTE: Her last name is not pronounced "TEEGS" as commonly believed, but "TIGES" (like "TIGERS" without the the R).

Tiegs was born 25 September 1947 in Breckenridge, Minnesota, but raised in Alhambra, California, and she graduated from Alhambra High School in 1965 (not to be confused with Alhambra High School in Martinez, California). She also attended the California State University - Los Angeles, and became a little sister to the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. By the time she was 17 years old, she appeared on the cover of Glamour magazine. Other covers followed, including Harper's Bazaar, Elle, Time, and Vogue.

Acting Career

Tiegs appeared in Vincent Gallo's controversial film The Brown Bunny, and played herself in two episodes of the TV comedy series Just Shoot Me as well as the Moonlighting episode "It's a Wonderful Job".

Tiegs appears in the HGTV series Living With Ed.

Tiegs is referenced on several occasions as past love interest of Glenn Quagmire in the television series Family Guy. She voices herself in the episode "Tiegs for Two".

The unrated DVD version of Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story includes scenes cut from the theatrical version of Tiegs playing a late-1970s version of herself, briefly married to the title character and using the name "Cheryl Cox-Tiegs". It is implied she has a rivalry with model Cheryl Ladd, also appearing as herself.

In 2012 Tiegs appeared on NBC's reality TV competition-based program The Celebrity Apprentice. She was the first player eliminated.

Other Works

She is best known for her long-running affiliation with the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, which featured her on the cover in 1970, 1975, and 1983. The 1978 poster of her in a pink bikini became an iconic 1970s pop culture image.

She has an accessory and wig line for Revlon.

In 2007 Cheryl became a spokesperson for Cambria.

She was a judge on the ABC series True Beauty that premiered on 5 January 2009.

Family

Tiegs had four husbands, including film director Stan Dragoti. Now she is single and has one son.
