Catherine was the widow of Brewster when she married the Rev. Philip Edelen. She was cited as the wife of Philip Edelen of Middlesex; the sister of Francis Offley; the daughter of Thomas Offley and Anne Cletherow; and the granddaughter of Hugh Offley, Alderman of London, in the pedigree registered for Francis Offley in the Visitation of London in 1633-35 (The Visitation of London, 1633, 1634 and 1635, Volume 2, 1883, pg 130).

Catherine married first a man named Brewster and they were the parents of one or more children. About 1630 she married the Rev. Philip Edelen. She was also cited as his wife in a record in Chancery Proceedings dated October 20, 1635. Sir Christopher Cletherow made a bequest in his will in 1641 to Catherine, his niece, the wife of the Rev. Philip Edelen.

The children of Catherine Offley and the Rev. Philip Edelen were named in Philip's will dated on March 11, 1656 as Christopher, Anne and Richard. Christopher was baptized in the Parish of St. Andrew's Undershaft, and Anne was baptized in Fareham Parish. Richard settled in the Province of Maryland and made his home in St. Mary's County, Maryland. -- From "Genealogical History of Our Ancestors" by Rutherford, 1977.

The will of her uncle, Christopher Cletherow, formerly Lord Mayor of London, dated on April 14, 1640 and proved in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury in London on November 22, 1641, named each of his sisters, and included among them was Anne Offley, deceased. The will devised forty shillings and a ring to "Mrs Catherine Edlin and to all her brothers and sisters the children of the deceased sister Mrs Anne Offley."

Christened at St Dunstan-in-the-East, London, October 30, 1600.

By her first husband William Brewster the younger, of Great Bealings, Suffolk, she was the mother of Thomas Brewster alias Seckford (c.1617-c.1669), who married the widow Elizabeth Watkins on April 23, 1655 in Surry County, Virginia. He had immigrated by 1643, and was a member of Edward Bland's expedition party which in 1650 explored the western part of Virginia.

As Brewster's widow Katharine married Rev Philip Edelen on December 28, 1629 at St Mary's Church in Leyton, Essex, the parish church near her father Thomas Offley's country home. She and Philip had their eldest son together, Christopher Edelen, christened at St Andrew Undershaft Church in London on February 24, 1630, and a daughter Anne Edelen who married James Hilles on June 6, 1654 at St Michael Bassishaw Church in London. Their younger son Richard Edelen (c.1635-1694), gentleman, immigrated with his wife Elizabeth Banton to North America, where he was Deputy Surveyor of Maryland and the Doorkeeper of the Maryland Assembly. Richard and Elizabeth were the parents of, amongst others, Richard Edelen (c.1671-1760) and Christopher Edelen (c.1682-1771).
