≤blockquote>Jacques Joseph Sorrel became closely associated with Gregoire Pellerin, another rancher and farmer who had come to Louisiana from Acadia (Canada). Gregoire's plantation adjoined Sorrel's, and when Gregoire died in 1776, Jacques Joseph - a bachelor - became a trusted counselor to his former partner's widow, Cecile Prejean Pellerin, and a surrogate father and mentor to her four young children, Eugenia, Emelie, Frederick, and Marie Josephe. ≤ref>Freymann, Jarvis M., "The Sorrel/Pellerin Burial Ground" full citation needed ≤/ref>

The lands measured 45 arpents wide by 40 arpents deep, bounded above by J. Sorrel & below by her son Frédéric.
