'Eveline'
Sailed Cape of Good Hope 1864 - arrived Auckland January 22nd 1865
Ship's manifest has Bridget's age at 24, which in 1865 gives a possible birth date of 1841.
It's more likely the birth date is 1844 given that she was 73 when she died in 1917.
(although that makes her 15 upon arrival at Table Bay, Cape Town, in July 1859)

Bridget married Eugene Sweeney in Cape Town, South Africa 8 September 1863. They were passengers on the immigrant ship Eveline (814 tons Captain James Taylor)
which departed Cape Town on 2 December 1864 and arrived in Auckland on 22 January 1865.
Upon arrival, residing at Cape Settlement, Pukekohe.
Eugene Sweeney was accidently killed in June 1873 when earth fell on him at his workplace.

New Zealand Herald, 4 August 1886
Mr. Tole presented a petition to-day from Bridget Burgess praying the House to grant her land owned by her husband, who was killed while working in the railway works at Pukekohe in 1873, and left no will, and so far as she is aware has no family. She complains that she has never been able to get the land, and wishes it made over to her.

Bridget made numerous petitions to the government requesting a Crown Grant be made transferring title of her first husband's land to be made over to her. Papers Past records petition dates in 1881, 1886 and 1889.

See source documents: Crown Grant to Eugene Sweeney, instrument date 15 Nov 1872.
