Helen “Mim” Haney Rogers, 93, went to be with Jesus from her home on December 23, 2014. She was loved by all who had the honor of knowing her. Precious mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law who was lovingly known to all as “Mim”.

A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Everette and Pearl Buckner Haney. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Rev. Howard James Rogers who passed away July 17, 2002; sons-in-law: David Whitaker, and Verlon Rogers; brothers: Denver, Don, Conley, and Jack Haney; and sisters: Lova Sluder and Ruth Adamski.

Mrs. Rogers served as a faithful pastor’s wife for over 35 years at New Liberty Baptist Church of which she was a member since 1959. She currently attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Surviving are her daughters, Shirley Freeman and husband Don of Leicester, Pat Henson and husband Willis of Alexander, and Linda Whitaker of Asheville; sister, Wilma Taylor of Asheville; sisters-in-law: Shirley Haney of Asheville, Lucille Haney of Alexander, and Deanna Haney of Arden; brothers: Everette C. Haney, Jr and wife Nell of Asheville, and Earl Haney and wife Henrietta of Weaverville; 8 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 12 PM Saturday, December 27, 2014 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Seth Whitaker, Rev. Keith Hutchinson, Don Freeman, and Willis Henson officiating. Burial will be in the New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11 till 12 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be: Greg Freeman, Chad Freeman, Todd Henson, Trent Henson, Seth Whitaker, and Rick Haney.
