Mrs. Bessie P. Surrena of 00 Twitmyer Ave., Sharpsville, died at 10 a.m. Sunday in the Shenango Valley Medical Center where she has been admitted two days ago.
Mrs. Surrena had an extended illness and for the past nine years she had been living with her daughter, Lillian M. Shultz. She formerly spent most of her life at Harrisville RD 2.
Born in Youngstown, Ohio, May 6m, 1908, she was a daughter of Frederick and Hattie Brandon Collingwood. She attended school in Youngstown and Victory Township.
She married Oatis P. Surrena Aug. 29, 1925 in Franklin and he preceded her in death.
Mrs. Surrena enjoyed gardening, crocheting, quilting and other pursuits in her home. She was formerly affiliated with the Rocky Springs Presbyterian Church in Marion Township, Butler County.
Surviving are 10 children, Oatis Surrena, Jr., Grove City RD 3; Russell L. Surrena, Grove City; Ray E. Surrena, Mesquite, Texas; Frances E. Surrena, Athens, Tenn.; Mrs. Gary (Mary E.) Brown, New Castle; Donald V. Surrena, Russell, Pa.; Mrs. David (Margaret L.) Jewell, Kinsman, Ohio; Jackson P. and Sherry J. Surrena, Jamestown, N.Y., and Lillian M. Shultz of Sharpsville.
Also surviving are five sisters, Mrs. Ronald (Doris) Say, Tampa, Fla.; Mrs. Frank (Virginia) Marzka, Florida; Mrs. Basil (Virginia) Eakin, Erie; Mrs. William (Geraldine) Conway, Greenville; Mrs. Frank (Blanche) Bennett, Pleasantville; two brothers, James Collingwood, Warren, Pa.; Paul Collingwood, Erie; four step brothers, Ervin Wagner, Franklin; Glenn Wagner, Titusville; Lloyd Wagner, Titusville RI and Lawrence Wagner, California; 31 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and several step grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
An infant daughter, Ruby and two brothers, Fred and Victor Collingwood, are deceased.
Funeral services will be conducted at Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home with Revs. Sue and Jay Montgomery, pastors of Trinity Parish Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivant Cemetery, Marion Township, Butler County.
