Bernice Quesinberry Padgett, 78, of Hillsville, Va., passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2009, at Lewis Gale Medical Center.

Mrs. Padgett was born in Carroll County to the late Cleveland Kyle and Beulah G. Phibbs Quesinberry. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James H. Padgett.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Carolyn Handy, of Hillsville; daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Jerry Lawson, of Galax; grandchildren, Regina S. Handy and Travis G. Handy; six sisters and brothers-in-law; and three brothers and sisters-in-law.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 2, 2009 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with the Rev. Ronald W. Kronk and the Rev. Michael D. Shockley officiating. Burial will follow in the Gardner Memorial Cemetery.
