About Benjamin Mosby
Benjamin Mosby (son of Benjamin and Elizabeth [Bacon] Mosby ) was born Sept., 1771 (three months after his father's death) and died 1827 . In young manhood he was clerk for Mr. Galt , a Scotch merchant, in Richmond , later moving to an estate called "Greenwood" in Henrico Co. He was coroner in Henrico Co. 1816 . Benjamin Mosby married Oct., 1798 , Ann Winston , daughter of Peter and Elizabeth (Povall) Winston.
Know all men by these presents that we, Benjamin Mosby and Hezekiah Mosby , are held and firmly bound unto his Excellency, James Wood, Esquire , Governor and chief magistrate of the Commonwealth of Virginia in the just and full sum of One Hundred and Fifty Dollars to be paid to the said Governor and his successors for which payment well and truly to be made. We bind ourselves, our heirs' executors and administrators jointly and severly firmly by these presents Sealed with our Seals dated this twelfth day of October, 1798 .
The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas there is a marriage intended shortly to be had and solemnized between the above bound Benjamin Mosby and Ann Winston . Now if there be no lawful cause to obstruct the said marriage then the above obligation to be void or else to remain in full force, power and virtue.

3. John Otway Mosby , born Dec. 29, 1803 ; married, first, Aug. 4, 1823 , Rachel Cottrell ; second, July 12, 1827 , Lenora Pearce .

5. Mary Ann Mosby , born May 28, 1811 ; married Jan. 1, 1833 , Thomas Delaware Quarles .
