About Aron Teschner

Aron Singer-Teschner was born in Prossnitz, Moravia [now Prostejov, Czech Republic] about 1715. As his father's younger son, he had non-existent rights because of the 1726 enactment of the Familiants Law. As a result, with other Moravian Jews in the early 1740s, he crossed the border into Hungary (Trencin County), and settled in the small village of Rosina, close to present-day Bytca. He and his wife, Rosalia, are seen in the 1782 Jewish census of Rosina:

Roszina, Trencsen Co., Hungary, 1782: Aron [b.] Joseff -- with wife, Rosalia, no children living with them.

He probably used the combined surname of Singer-Teschner, but eventually, he and all of his descendants went just by Teschner.

Aron Teschner died in Rosina between 1784 and 1788. His eldest great-grandson, Aron Teschner (1799-1877) [son of Jechezkiel Teschner of Vag Besztercze], was named in his honor.
