Anna Bell Manzer married Wm Henry Vought aka uncle Henry 05 Oct 1881 and she is buried with him. Near their tombstone is their son Wm Henry Jr. aka young Henry to the family. Young Henry served in WWI.Uncle Henry and Anna Bell came to North Allis to live in 1906. In the early years they lived in a log cabin. After the death of Anna Bell uncle Henry built a house that still stands. In 1922 the barn was built. A year before the barn was built he remarried his brothers widow and together they raised their grandsons whose mother of one had died and the other two grandsons were orphaned when young Henry died. About 20 years ago I found old letters, recipes, and old photos. Anna Bells recipe for home made biscuits are in the old recipe book. Many early members of the family left their version of johnny cake recipes, aka journey cake when earlier family came west after the Revolutionary War. A recipe book had among the other recipes one I used for many years . In the beginning it was Lily Voughts 1881 recipe for homemade Venison Mincemeat. Most early members of the family didn't feel a holiday was complete without homemade mincemeat pie. Another recipe was handed down for 5 generations and had no directions for the cake. Only the ingredients were listed and no directions were written. the time it was copied it must have been from the Revolutionary war days or before. Now there are several more generations born.
