Many sources state that Edward Lewis, Sr. had five daughters and one son, who had no heirs. The book on the Freshwater Families by Clara Edelblute, and Ralph & Harold Freshwater states:

"Edward Lewis acquired land which fell into Richmond County upon its formation in 1692. This descended to his only son [John] who died without issue and without a will in 1704/5 and this real estate in North Farnham Parish became the property of his five sisters all of whom had married prior to this date. His five sisters:

  1. Johanna married William Linton of Westmoreland Co.;
  2. Mary married Christopher Pridham ((16??-1731) (I believe she married again);
  3. Ann married 1700 Thomas Jasper/Jesper
  4. Elizabeth married Simon Taylor (my ancestors);
  5. Katherine married Joseph Deeke (16?? - )
