Ann Zorn, daughter of Henry Zorn & Elizabeth, married Henry Hutto (d 1817), son of Charles Hutto & Ann Tsudi. Don’t confuse with her cousin Ann Katherine Zorn, daughter of Nicholas Zorn & Susannah Elizabeth, who also married a Henry Hutto (d 1837)

Henry married Ann Zorn about 1785. She was the daughter of Henry Zorn, who died in 1800. There was a partition deed recorded in Barnwell Co (A: 50) in which his children and spouses divided up the tract that Henry had bought from James McMillan.

This Henry Hutto does not appear as a head of household in the census of1790.His first child was born in 1787 and we may suppose that until they got more established they were staying for a while with her parents, who were living in the southern part of Orangeburgh..In fact Henry Zorn had a large number of individuals living in his house in 1790.In the 1800 census we find Henry as head of household living in the southern part of Orange (sic) County, below the Edisto.This area had become Barnwell in 1798 but in 1800 the old Districts were being reorganized.Henry was awarded a grant of 1000 acres (larger than usual) on the Salkehatchie River in 1802.He seems to have been interested in land speculation and is named in a number of deeds between 1809 and the time of his death.In 1810 he was living near two sons and various Zorn in-laws.

He died between 24 Aug 1817 when he signed his will, and 24 Oct 1817 when the will was probated in Barnwell Co. Court.He names his wife Ann and his oldest son William as executor. He had ten children, not named in the will but whose names are found from papers dealing with the division of his estate.(3, 12) He died rather wealthy for the time, his estate being valued at $8956.75.

1. William Hutto Sr (1787-1863) married Lucy Montgomery ca 1804.She was born ca 1786, d 1851.
2. Henry Hutto Jr, born ca 1788 SC, died 1818, married Mary _____They had three children- two sons and a daughter, born 1800-09.
3. Nancy Hutto Delk (1795-1825) Nancy Hutto, born ca 1792, married Robert Delk ca 1818; she died about 1825. He was b. 1790, a lawyer, and marr (2) Martha _____.Children: Jacob, Henry, Elizabeth, and Rebecca Delk. (1)
4. John Hutto Sr., born ca 1793, died 27 March 1853, aged about 60 (on stone).He was a planter in America Twp., Barnwell Co. SC.His wife died prior to 1850.Two possible sons.
5. Jacob Hutto (c 1794-1870) marr. Elizabeth Gilliam ca 1816.They had one son in 1820 Barnwell Co SC census.They apparently moved to Henry Co Ala by 1825.
6. Isaac Hutto, b. 1795, married Sarah Delk.Isaac died young, in 1818 or possibly 1827 (3).Following his death she remarried to William Touchstone, and moved to Lowndes Co. Ga., later to Clinch Co. (3)
7. Charles Hutto, b. ca 1796, marr first ca 1816 _____ Jeter (one dau); m second Elizabeth Walker in Pike Co Ala.Charles Hutto died prior to 14 Dec. 1854 , Pike Co. AL, when his probate was started. William McKerley, son-in-law , was admin. Charles Hutto and his wife, Susannah Hutto, sold their land to his brother, William Hutto, Sr., 22 Dec. 838, Barnwell Co. SC Deed Book AAA, pgs . 128-9 and moved to AL. Charles Hutto and Susannah Hutto recorded a deed in Pike Co., AL, 8 Oct 1846, Deed Book I/J, pg . 349.
8. Nicholas Hutto4, b. 1799, died after 1860, was a planter in Barnwell Co SC.He married first _____ Jeter, and second Ann Browning ca 1844.Ann was born in 1820, living 1860.Ten children.(see below)
9. Mary (Polly) Hutto was born in 1803 SC, married Jacob Jackson, moved to Dale Co. Alabama in the 1850's, living there in 1860 with children.
10. Rebecca Hutto, b. 1804 SC, m James Touchstone 11 March 1824 Barnwell Co, moved to Laowndes Co Ga.He was b 1794, d 22 Aug 1865.She died 16 March 1878.Ch. are listed in (3)

Henry Hutto was born 26 MAY 1753, in South Carolina. At the time of the American Revolutionary War, Henry was residing in the Orangeburg District of South Carolina, established in 1768 (see researchers notes) Orangeburg County was founded in 1785. Henry enlisted as a Private and attained the rank of Corporal in the 1st Regiment, under the command of Colonel C. Pinckney, 1775-1778. [1]

Henry is honored by the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution as DAR Ancestor #A061465. DAR records indicate that Henry died September 24, 1817, in the Barnwell District of South Carolina, and that his wife's name was Ann [NOT Katherine] Zorn.

Applications for membership in the Society of the DAR have been made by the descendants of their sons:

Death: 1831 Barnwell County South Carolina, USA

As with Henry, there were 2 Ann Zorns. Our Ann Zorn, who married Henry Hutto was born about 1760 in Barnwell and was the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Zorn. The other Ann Zorn, Anne Katherine Zorn was born 23 Sep 1758 in Blackville, Barnwell District and was the daughter of Nicolas and Susannah Elizabeth Zorn. Her birth is recorded in the Book of Record by Rev Giessendanner. This Ann Zorn married Johann Ebenhard Stivender.? These 2 Ann's were 1st cousins also, their fathers, Nicholas and Henry Zorn being brothers. The 2 Ann's were probably named after their paternal grandmother whose name was Anna Catharina with their paternal grandfather being Nicholas Zorn who immigrated to SC from Germany around 1735, around the same time our progenitor Issac Hutto with family arrived.

"HENRY ZORN, SR. was born abt. 1735-39 and died in 1800. He married ELIZABETH UNKNOWN. Henry surveyed a grant of 200 acres on 2 Oct 1772[10] and it was granted on 2 Apr 1773[2]. In addition he purchased a 640 acre tract on the Salkehatchie from James McMillan, who had a plat for this land recorded on 22 Sept 1784[16]. Henry was a petit juror "for Orangeburgh" (meaning he lived in or near the town) in 1778-9[5]. The 1790 census shows Henry's family breakdown as 3 4 4 0 7, showing he had a large family and owned seven slaves. Henry died in 1800 and there was a partition deed (A: 50) recorded in Barnwell Co. in which his children and spouses divided up the tract that Henry had bought from James McMillan. They sold to Nicholas and David Zorn. In 1809, another deed (F-165) deals with the estate of Henry Zorn Sr.
