About Andrew de Atholl of Glenerochie, 4th of Glenerochie
IMPORTANT!!
Substantial controversy exists over just how the lands of Struan, required to be passed down in the male line, could have ended up with Andrew's son, Duncan, unless there was direct male relationship between Andrew and Madach of Clunes, who had inherited the lands in the male line after Ewan of Glenerochie died without male issue. This has yet to be proven, but casts significant doubt on the probability of Malcolm, de Insulis, or Angis/Angus of Glenerochie and Lora Durward being the natural parents of Andrew of Atholia, 4th of Glenerochie, as has been previously documented.(2022)
Madach of Clunes was the son of Duncan McCallum, de Atholia, grandson of Malcolm, 2nd Celtic Earl of Atholl, great-grandson of Madach(Matad), 1st Celtic Earl of Atholl, and great-great-grandson of Mael Muire mac Donnchad, Mormaer of Atholl.
