Andrew Carriker, formerly Karcher, was born in Berks County, PA, in 1755. He moved to NC buying a US land grant to protect the land against British invasion and to support the war. Andrew's special oath of allegiance and the land entry mentioned can be found on the NC Land Grant site. Andrew had a several sons who moved to Union, Illinois, around 1816.
