André & his wife had [four] children:
a) ROBERT [II] de Vitré ). A charter dated to [1110] records that "Andreas dominus Vitriaci castri et frater eius Philippus et uxor ipsius Andreæ…Agnes, cum filiis suis Roberto, Gervasio et Elia" confirmed the foundation of Sainte-Croix de Vitré[864]. Seigneur de Vitré. m as her second husband, EMMA de la Guerche, widow of JUHAEL Seigneur de Châteaubriand, daughter of GAUTHIER Hay Seigneur de la Guerche & his wife --- (-after 1 Apr 1161). "Robertus dominus Vitreii" granted property to Sauvigny with the consent of "Andrea filio meo et Emma matre mea et Emma uxore mea" by charter dated 1 Apr 1161[865]. Le Baud records that “Gaultier Hay sieur de la Guerche, homme lige de André de Vitré” had three daughters of whom the eldest “Emmé” married firstly “Iuhael fils Thechel de Chasteaubriand” and secondly Robert de Vitré[866]. The primary source which confirms her parentage has not been identified. Robert [II] & his wife had two children:
b) GERVAIS. A charter dated to [1110] records that "Andreas dominus Vitriaci castri et frater eius Philippus et uxor ipsius Andreæ…Agnes, cum filiis suis Roberto, Gervasio et Elia" confirmed the foundation of Sainte-Croix de Vitré[869].
c) HELIE. A charter dated to [1110] records that "Andreas dominus Vitriaci castri et frater eius Philippus et uxor ipsius Andreæ…Agnes, cum filiis suis Roberto, Gervasio et Elia" confirmed the foundation of Sainte-Croix de Vitré[870].
d) (HAWISE. Complete Peerage identifies the wife of Robert de Ferrers Earl of Derby as the daughter of André de Vitry & his wife but cites no supporting evidence[871]. According to Domesday Descendants[872], "there is no convincing evidence as to her identity". m ROBERT de Ferrers, son of HENRI Seigneur de Ferrières et de Chambrais & his wife Bertha --- (-1139). He was created Earl of Derby in 1138.)

André I, seigneur de Vitré, was a tenant of Count Robert of Mortain in Cornwall in 1086.

André was our ancestor through two distinct descent lines--through his daughter Hawise and through his son Robert, each of whom was independently our ancestor.

1. # HAWISE2 DE VITRÉ, COUNTESS OF DERBY (Andre1) of VITRE, daughter of (1) Andre1 and (AAR-4) Agnes (de MORTAIGNE) VITRÉ, was born circa 1069, and died between 1100 and 1179.

She married circa 1087, (NV-2) ROBERT DE FERRERS of Derbyshire, son of (NV-1) Henry and Bertha (ROBERTS) FERRERS, who was born circa 1062, was christened in Charterley, Staffordshire, England, and died in 1139. Children: See (NV-2) Robert de FERRERS

1. ## 3. ROBERT I2 DE VITRÉ (Andre1), son of (1) Andre1 and (AAR-4) Agnes (de MORTAIGNE) VITRÉ, was born between 1068 and 1104, and died between 1082 and 1214. He married EMMA DE LA GUERCHE.
