In the 1870 Census John L. Dowell, age fifty five, born in North Carolina, was living in the household of Amos Rash. His wife, Nancy Rash Dowell, was fifty years old and born in North Carolina, was living in the household of their son, James E. Dowell. Nancy Rash Dowell was a daughter of Daniel and Ruth L. Muncy Rash and the Aunt of Amos Rash.

1. Daniel S. Rash was born August 22, 1852 in Wilkes County, North Carolina. He was married on January 9, 1875 in Johnson County, Tennessee to Elizabeth “Betty Ann” Jennings who was born December 10,1852, and died December 31, 1931 in Johnson County, Tennessee. Daniel died there December 15, 1933.

2. Dulcena Alzenia Rash was born ca. 1854 in Wilkes County. She married Frederick Fritts on November 27, 1873 in Johnson County, Tennessee. He was born in 1853 in Tennessee. He married (1) Susannah ____. (1870 Johnson County Census). He was the probable son of Christian and Mary Fritts.

3. John A. Rash was born August 12, 1858 in Tennessee. His wife Margaret was born November 16, 1865, and died March 8,1941. John died May 18, 1937. They both died in Johnson Co., Tennessee.

The 1900 Census of Johnson County showed a Thomas B. Rash, who was age 13, living in the household of Amos. It appears that this was the same person as John A. Rash, since John A. was the same age; however, Thomas B. could have been a relative, and John A. absent from their home at the time.

5. Sophronia E. Rash was born in 1864.
6. William A. Rash was born 1866. He married Nancy C. who was born in 1880.
