Daughter of Robert Rash and Setha Lettie Bryant.
AMANDA “Manda” ELIZABETH RASH was born March 12, 1843, in Tennessee and died Feb. 18, 1910 at Richland, Keokuk County, Iowa. On Jan. 16, 1859 in Keokuk County she married WILLIAM “WILL” JOHNSTON JONES, born Jan. 25, 1834 in Texas and died Feb. 11, 1890 at Richland. They and their children Miles, Elsie, Ralph, Hugh and Claren Clyde are buried in Friends Cemetery, Richland, as are Will's parents.

The children of William and Amanda were all given names that totaled 16 letters. Obituary
“William Johnson Jones died at his residence in this township; aged 56 years and 16 days. Mr. Jones was the son of Isaac Jones and was one of the earliest settlers of this county, having come to this county with his parents in 1844, and has lived in this township continually since that time. It has been our good pleasure to know him intimately ever since he came to the county, and we have yet to hear the first word against his private character. He was a believer in the truth and all his dealings with his fellow men he bore the name of being scrupulously honest. He was married in 1858 to Miss Amanda Rash and had born to him ten children, three of whom have passed on before their father, seven remaining -- four boys and three girls. He was not a member of any church and so far as we know never made a profession of religion, but in all his movements and dealings with his fellow-men, he was fully up to the standard of the best of men. A large number of his relatives and neighbors attended his funeral and followed the last remains to the tomb in Friend’s cemetery north of this city, where all that was mortal of him lies by the side of his parents and his three children.”

Perhaps the person who wrote this obituary did not realize that he was a member of the Friends Church. If he was not a Quaker, then he likely would not be buried in the Friends Cemetery in Keokuk where his and his wife’s tombstones still stand.
