Alice Trejo

Marfa native Alice M. Trejo, 84, the mother of “tough guy” actor Danny Trejo, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013 in Arleta, California.

Viewing will be at 10:30am Pacific time, Sunday, March 24 with a noon wake, and funeral will be at 9am Monday, March 25 at the Catholic Mortuary, 11160 Stranwood Ave., Mission Hills, California.

The beloved wife of the late Dionisio ‘Dan’ Trejo, Mrs. Trejo was the youngest of five children born in Marfa on May 9, 1928 to Genoveva Martinez of Presidio and Mariano Ortega Mendias of Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico.

The family moved to the Los Angeles area when she was 15 years old.

Survivors include

• her son, the actor Danny Trejo;
• a sister-in-law, Lupita Mendias of Marfa;
• a niece, Silvia Mendias Looper of Cleburne;
• grandchildren,
  • Danny Trejo Jr.,
  • Gilbert Trejo,
  • Danielle Trejo,

as well as many family members and friends who loved her dearly.

She will forever be remembered in our hearts for her humble kindness, and warm hospitality, but mostly how loving and caring she was to all who have been blessed to have shared their lives with her. Now in a beautiful place of grace, peace and joy, beyond all time and sorrow, our hearts may have been parted today, but will meet again tomorrow.
