MARY ANN SINGLETON (Nee NIGHTINGALE) was born 17/03/1870, died 21/12/1947 and buried also at Heaton.
They married @ st James parish Church Bolton 18/05/1889, they variously lived together with their children @ 604 & 686 Tonge Moor Road Bolton between 1903-1918 & 1919-1947 respectively & 277 Waterloo Sreet Bolton ( MARY ANN only ) with widowed mother ANN NIGHTINGALE who is described in 1881 census as " Cotton Weaver" and daughter as " Tenter in Cotton Mill". I know of no residency at 112 Tonge Moor Road though this cannot be ruled out. Of WILLIAM HENRY SINGLETON
I have little information other than he marries ALICE (nee THOMPSON ) born circa 1848. They marry March 1868 at All Saints parish Church Bolton. I have no knowledge of other children other than W.H.S Jnr. (research ongoing)
------- MARY ANN SINGLETON (nee NIGHTINGALE ) appears the only child of parents ROBERT NIGHTINGALE & ANN NIGHTINGALE (nee BATES ) married 20/04/1868 @ St Georges parish Church Bolton.
ROBERT is baptized 05/12/1841 in Bolton & died 1875 also at Bolton & at his marriage described as a "porter". Ann is born in 1845 in Bury Lancs.& died in Bolton & buried in the Singleton family grave @ Heaton 18/06/1917.
ROBERT appears 1 of 11 children born to parents JOHN NIGHTINGALE & ANN NIGHTINGALE (nee CROMPTON born 1812 ) between 1833 & 1869 within the Bolton area. JOHN & ANN are married 10/04/1832. At the marriage of ROBERT & ANN JOHN's father is described as a "beer Seller" and ANN's father NATHANIEL BATES as a"pattern maker".
My mother DORIS always maintained that there was a family link through ANN CROMPTON to the famous family of SAMUEL CROMPTON the Bolton inventor of the spinning mule 1753-1827.
