The emigrant ship Simon Taylor sailed from London on April 30, 1842. She was under the command of Thomas Brown and arrived off Fremantle in the Swan River Colony 111 days later on August 20, 1842.

There were 242 passengers in all - 5 traveled in the cabins and the rest in steerage.

The death occurred at Toodyay on September 16 of Mrs. Alice Marris, an old resident of the town, at the age of 88 years. The deceased lady was the wife of Mr. Charles Marris, and is survived by a grown up family of sons and daughters, these being

Hubert Marris.
The funeral took place the following afternoon, the remains being interred in the Toodyay cemetery.
