Disputed origins

Alice is shown in many online internet sites as Alice "Peck", daughter of William Peck, born in 1625 (many International Genealogical Index (IGI) records show the date as February 25, 1625). Her birth location is provided as either near London, England, or in Guilford, Connecticut. None of this information is substantiated, to wit:

William Peck married Elizabeth (unknown) and had four children, all of whom were named in his will: Jeremiah, b 1623 in England (he accompanied his parents to New England in 1637); John, b 1638 in Connecticut; Joseph, b 1641 in Connecticut, and Elizabeth, b 1643 in Connecticut. After William's first wife died December 5, 1683, he married Sarah Holt (widow of William Holt). His four children were all by his first wife.[1]

Another source verifies this same information about the wives and children of William Peck, validating that he had no daughter named Alice.[2]
Alice's birth location of Guilford, Connecticut cannot be correct, because Guilford was not settled until 1639, so this origin for Alice birthplace is not possible. [3]

Reviewing births in England in 1625, there is an Alice Peck born on February 25, 1625. However, the town is Liddington, Rutland, England, and the parents are John Peck and Mary.[4] This disputes the birthdate originally shown for her, with parents William and Elizabeth. Many Pedigree Research File and IGI records show her birth as 1625, in London, without further specifics. In a search via FamilySearch.org, no vital records showed up for Alice Peck, daughter of William Peck, with a birthdate near 1625.
FindAGrave lists Alice, born to William Peck and his wife Elizabeth, in 1626, in the Greater London area. No references are provided.[5]

In summary, there is no quality evidence to support Alice being a Peck. As a result, she has been disconnected from William Peck as his daughter. She has also had her LNAB changed to Unknown. If good sources are found in the future proving her last name to be Peck, this will be revisited.
