Alice M. Brungardt

Alice Brungardt, 102, died Friday, April 24, 2009, at St. John's Health Care Center, Victoria.

She was born Aug. 14, 1906, in Catherine to Leo and Sophie (Sophia)(Staab) Pelzel.

She married Benedict Brungardt on Nov. 23, 1932, in Victoria. He preceded her in death March 9, 1968. She was a homemaker and a nurse's aide at St. John's Rest Home.

She was a member of St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Christians Mothers Altar Society, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and meal site, all of Victoria.

Survivors include a son, Robert Brungardt and wife, Kathy, Shawnee Mission; three daughters, Mary Alice Knight and husband, Jerry, Corpus Christi, Texas, Theresa McDade and husband, James, Hot Springs Village, Ark..; Venita O'Connor and husband, Joe, Sacramento, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Pat Brungardt-Warner and husband, Wendell, Hays; two brothers, Bill Pelzel, Catherine and James Pelzel and wife, Valeria, Wichita; four sisters, Irene Bollig, Hays, Clara Hetzel and Frances Koester, both of Wichita, and Marie Mermis, Great Bend; 16 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Francis "Frank" Brungardt; a great- grandchild; two brothers, Leo Pelzel and Alphonse Pelzel; and two sisters, Edna Goetz and Beatrice Haas.
