• 1576, Nov. 29: issued a charter of marriage at Monzievaird to Elizabeth, daughter of William Murray, 1st of Lettirbannochy (RMS 1546-1580, No. 2605)
• appears to have been passed over in succession by his brother, Edward, without documented explanation.
• 1593, June 5: granted in concert with his brother, Edward, a charter of wadset (or mortgage) to William Murray of Ochtertyre for the "sheillings and grazings" of Glenturret, and Kirklands of Meckven.

Granted lands in 1577 by his father who took them back in 1578. Fined in 1613 for harbouring members of the outlawed Clan Gregor.
