Roy's grandmother (Lettie) was eldest of about 12 children: Miemie (m.SALZMANN in Reddersburg), Hannie, Barry (owned farm Masels Poort near Bloem), Gideon (owned farm next door to Masels Poort; son Johan was Ossewa Brandwag member who was interned in WW2 for bombing a telephone pylon), Pollie (m.Frans JOUBERT, farm Boesmanskop near Bloemfontein), Lisbet (never married), Fritz (Permanent Force member in South African Defence Force, had a daughter Christine, and a son), Kowie (Jacoba?) (m.Alec McHARDY, an attorney in Port Elizabeth, who's brother Boetie was a Springbok wing at turn of century XIX > XX); Daughter (was married to Helgard STEYN, who died 3 months after wedding - this was known before they married - she did this to become stepmother to look after his children) then Helgard married Lettie after the death of the unknown sister - Lettie then brought up his children who were all in Bloemfontein.
