THE TUSCALOOSA NEWS - May 24, 2010 Alce Dee "Al" Sartain, Sr., age 73, of Tuscaloosa, died May 22, 2010 at home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel with Dr. Ken Cheek and Brother Brad Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Opal Sartain of Northport, Alabama and brothers, Adam and Joel.

He is survived by his wife, Nellie LaGrone Sartain; aunt, Isabell Robertson of Northport, AL; son, Al Sartain, Jr. of Conroe, Texas; sisters, Ann Misko (Bill) of Tuscaloosa, Betty Gast of Birmingham, and Janell Matthews (Harold); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Al owned and operated The Patio Bar-B-Q for 22 years and retired from B.F. Goodrich after 15 years of service. In 1988 he and his wife retired and after his retirement, he enjoyed golf and traveling. Al contributed to his community by sponsoring baseball, softball and bowling teams.

Pallbearers will be Todd Rogers, Reggie Gast, Jerry Fritz, Kyle Bryan, James Lindsey and Steve Lindsey.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Sartain, Hoyt and Shirley Hester, members of Tuscaloosa Country Club, the staff of Old Colony and past and present employees of B.F. Goodrich.
