MEMORIAL PHOTOS 1 FLOWERS 0 Alberta M. Vaughn, 91, of 235 Vaughn Farm Road, Altoona, formerly of 3004 Spruce Ave., died Monday at her residence from congestive heart failure.

She was born in Duncansville, daughter of the late Clarence and Martha (Taylor) Eckard. She married George W. Vaughn on Sept. 3, 1940, in Altoona, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 1982.

Surviving are six children: George W. Jr., Timothy J. and wife, Gwen, and Christopher T. Martha C. Long and husband, Ken, Erma E. Cupples and husband, Lenny, and Connie Wilt and husband, Ed, who were her caretakers and with whom she resided; 12 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers: Donald, Bernard and George Eckard; and a daughter-in-law, Pamela Vaughn.

Alberta retired from Tritex Sportswear with many years of service and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. She enjoyed going to bingo with her granddaughter and gardening and had devoted her life to her oldest son, George.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2013, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church by Father David Rizzo. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
