Alberta Griffin

My grandmother was born in South Carolina. Her and her family later moved to an area of Tennesse where she spent most her adolescent and teenager years. She began her adult life in West Virginia where she gave birth to her two oldest children. She was the youngest of 10 other sibblings and followed the footsteps of most of them when she saught North cerca 1950. Alberta settled in Newark where she had another child and later met her first and last husband. The two of them settled in East Orange New Jersey where they raised her (Choicel, Cheryl and Elizabeth) and their three children (Bertha, Joseph and Tonyah) together. She retired from being a life long pilar of civil service employed as a midwife, home health aide and Registered Nurse with up to no more than a formal 6th grade education. Her and my grandfather spent their senior years traveling and visitng relatives while living in Columbus, Ohio and Tobyhanna, Pennsylavania. Alberta spent her last days in the home and under the care of my devoted mother. My grandmother suffered from Diabetes, Arthiritis, Glycoma, Asthma and Lung Cancer. Alberta lived a full life and left something special in the hearts of all she knew. She was cherished and will forever be deeply missed. I love you Nana!
