His father was Benedict, not Sir Alan.

• "Benedict de Pennington and Alan his son and heir occur in the latter part of the 12th century (fn. 10); in 1202 Alan son of Benedict granted 2 oxgangs of land in Pennington to Hugh son of Edward. (fn. 11)"

Sir Rogers Venables was the baron of Kinderton, in abt 1240, died about 1261, married to Alice daughter of Alan de Peninton, of Peninton-hall, Lancaster abt. 1240.
