Alan Thomas Burgess

Born 1922, elder son,brother of Rona. 20th Battalion 2nd World War. Tank driver (Sherman) fought Nth Africa,and Monto Cassino Italy. Played Cricket for Sydenham, and played for NZ in a services team in UK at the end of the war. Biggest thrill to play at Lords. Played football for Linwood and Canterbury early 50s. Cartlidges removed and end of rugby as it was in those days. Married Joyce Isobel Gloria Barber in 1946 after the war. Divorced 70s, remarried Carol . Three children by Joyce, Pamela, Peter and Phillippa.Three grandchildren Rebbecca,James and Ryan,one great grandchild Harvey Lilley,twins Campbell and Fletcher Lilley.
