John Maxwell, 4th Lord Maxwell (died 9 September 1513) Maxwell married (in 1491 or 1492) Agnes, the daughter of Sir Alexander Stewart of Garlies ,[3][4] She was still living on 25 July 1530. They had at least eight children:
Maxwell is also known to have had two illegitimate sons, Henry and John.[1]
Agnes Stewart was the daughter of Sir Alexander Stewart, 3rd of Garlies and Elizabeth Douglas.1 She married John Maxwell, 3rd Lord Maxwell, son of John Maxwell, Master of Maxwell and Janet Crichton, from 15 February 1491 to 20 February 1491/92.2 She died after 25 July 1530.
From from 15 February 1491 to 20 February 1491/92, her married name became Maxwell.
