Agnes Rawlins

Grandma Hebert was born into a family of 18 children. She married Ceasar Hebert and had 6 children.  They were born and raised in the Catholic faith.  When Pentecost was rebirthed in La. MoMo and Paw Paw Hebert attended an in house prayer meeting and there they had an encounter with God and  later recieved the Holy Ghost and was baptized in Jesus Name.  A short time later Paw Paw was called into the service of God as a minister of the gospel and traveled by horse and buggy preaching the gospel all over the state of Louisiana.  Momo was a stay at home Mom and took in washing & ironing to help with the family expense.  This was all happening during the "Great Depression" and God supplied all of their needs some time food was scarce and more money would have been nice.  I never heard Momo tell me this story with a complaining spirit but with gratitude and love for God.  Paw Paw died in 1939 he had lost his physical vision but not his spiritual vision . Momo out lived most of her brothers and sisters.  She bare another daughter to Paw Paw Jessie Rawlins whom they named Genevieve (Noonie) and raised Paw Paw Jessie's children from his first wife that had died earlier about the same time Paw Paw Hebert died.  They were married and lived a long and happy life and prospered well.  They were gardners raised big vegetable gardens and filled shelves& freezers with produce that they had grown, grew & harvested figs from their fig trees and preserved them.  They picked and preserved berries for pies and jelly. Momo was one of the best cooks in southwest La.  She loved God, Paw Hebert & Paw Paw Jessie and her children until she drew her last breath.  Surely a woman of God....
