Adam Mudie of Breckness, younger, is identified as the eldest son of Adam Mudie of Breckness in the Moodie Book It cannot be regarded as certain but it is possible that Adam is the man who signed himself as Adame Mudy on 29 June 1590, when he witnessed a wadsett charter issued by his grandfather, Master William Mudie. Death

Adam Mudie of Breckness, younger, is said to have drowned in the Pentland Firth on his way to be married to a daughter of Makay of Far. The Marquis of Ruvigny and Raineval suggested that young Adam's intended might have been a daughter of Hugh MacKay of Farr, who was the father of Donald, Lord Reay. The Moodie Book

Speculation about the marriage planned for the young laird of Breckness seems pointless, after all a marriage did not take place, but some support for the suggestion made by the Marquis of Ruvigny and Raineval is provided by the fact that Adam's grandfather, Master William Mudy, was appointed curator to Y McKay, the son of Donald McKay of Farr (died 1550). This suggests the possibility that he may have been responsible for arranging suitable marriages for the young laird of Farr and his siblings. Evidence from the Acts of the Lords of Council in Public Affairs

29 September 1551: Registered agreement between Robert, bishop of Orkney, and Y McKy, son to Donald of Far with Master William Mudy his curator whereby, as Donald’s lands are in the hands of the Queen because he died bastard without lawful heirs, and as the Governor has consented that Y should have the lands for a composition of 4000 merks Scots – a sum he cannot pay – the barony of Far and other lands, holden of the Crown or other overlords, are to be the bishop’s heritably; but when 1000 merks are paid, the barony of Ardurnes shall be resigned to the bishop or elect of Caithness, or the Governor, for a new presentation to Y, and similarly Strathnaver, holden of the bishopric of Moray, shall be resigned on receipt of the second 1000 merks, Far and other lands when 2000 merks are paid; provided always that McKy cause the bishop to have the revenue until the 4000 merks are paid, his obligation being reduced as the instalments come in.
