Adam was the son of Walter Fauntleroy who married Juliana Thornhull, per his son's 1473 lawsuit.[1] The earlier Fauntleroy genealogies (see sources below) garble the earlier generations, and the faulty lineage has spread widely on the internet.

There is a persistent claim, supported by the family's surname, coat of arms and motto, and by the lack of any earlier record of the family, that the Fauntleroys descend from King John II of France.[2] If true, then King John would have been the father of Adam's's father Walter Fauntleroy.

Adam's son John "was 24 years old when his father [Adam] died in May 1449 (Inq. p.m.)."[3]
