Abraham LaRue married (1) Marie Magdeline Gillet 1684 in New York, daughter of Isaac Gillet and Esther Michee. He married (2) Olive Gerritsen about 1692 in Esophus, Ulster Co. New York.

He moved to Hopewell Twp, NJ within the corporation of Trenton, NJ, about 1707 (Burlington County, NJ) Part of Burlington Co, NJ would soon become Hunterdon Co, NJ.

Abraham of Mannheim (the immigrant) arrived on Staten Island, New York, in 1678, on the Dutch Ship "De Trouw" (Faith) with Jeanne Guerin le Rou and her children, all born in Mannheim. They were followed in 1680 by more of the family, arriving on the ship,"Caledonia." The children of Pierre and Jeanne Guerin le Rou were Jacques (b. 1656), Suzanne (b. 1658), Marie (b. 1662), Anne (b. 1664) and perhaps David.

Pierre le Rou (whose name was also spelled Le Roux), cousin of Abraham Le Roux of Leiden, had died on the voyage, which originated in Holland, Jeanne was unable to pay for the voyage, and she and her children escaped (except for Suzanne, who was captured and later sold - she spent the next five years in involuntary servitude) when Jeanne wielded a handspike and told the children to run for their lives

Abraham LaRue (1664-1712) is often called "The Immigrant" and he's the only one we know much about. Not long after he arrived, he owned land in Ulster County (often called Esopus or 'Supus), New York from 1688 to 1690. In 1690 he sold the land and moved to Staten Island. He was twice elected constable of the First (northern) Division of Richmond. Abraham had two wives. Maria Magdaleine Uzille. She was baptized on December 3, 1662, and belonged to the Dutch Reformed Church. They were wed in 1687. Some people spell her name Gille -- a Dutch corruption of the original French. Abraham and Magdaleine had one child, Peter, baptized on March 25, 1688. Shortly after this, Magdaleine must have died, because Abraham married again in 1690, a woman named Olive Gerritszen Cresson, a widow with several children of her own. Abraham died in New Jersey in December 1711.

Immigrant to America from Holland with his father's family in 1679 or 1680. From the History of Bucks County, Penn by W.W.H. Davis: "Abraham La Rue - Emigrant 1680 from Mannheim in Palz (Palatinate - now Germany). Married Magadaline Gille: had one son Peter, baptized in the Dutch Church of Kingston, New York in 1688. Second Marriage, about 1690 to Alche (or Olive), widow of Joshua Cresson, of Long Island. Located on Staten Island, where he was living when he made his will in 1702. Removed to Hopewell Township, in Burlington (later in Hunterdon, and now Mercer) County, New Jersey , prior to 1712. Administration of his estate granted to his widow June 14, 1712. Children of second marriage: Abraham, Issac, David and Daniel LaRue.

Some of these sons of Abraham's second wife lived in Buck's County, Penn and some of the family records say that Abraham lived for a while in Buck's County also. However court records seem to indicate that he lived most of his life in America in N.Y and New Jersey. The property of Abraham Larew in Ulstev Co. N.Y. is referred to in a conveyance of Feb. 13, 1688.

On Sept 1 1689, Abraham Larew took the oath of allegiance to the Governor of New York at Kingston, Ulster Co NY. Ref: Vol. 2, NY Colonial Records, p. 664 (he probably had made allegiance to Dutch before this, as they governed New York Colony until 1664, or the fact that he was born in Holland, we do not know the year, may have some bearing on it). In 1694 Abraham Larew elected Constable, April 5 in the fifth year of the reign of Her Majesty, by the Freeholders (Staten Island).

April 1, 1706, Abraham Larew was elected Constable of the North Division of Staten Island. Ref: Stillwell's Miscellany, Vol 1, page 55.

Jan 8, 1712 Hunterdon Co. NJ, an inventory was made of his personal estate. Ref. New Jersey Archives, Vol 23, 1st series, p. 282.

Also in NJ Archives: Abraham Larew, administration of his estate granted to his widow Olive LaRue. His will was made, Staten Island Sept 21, 1702. This would indicate that he died in what was then a part of Hunterdon Co. New Jersey, in the early part of Jan 1712.

Records show Abraham wad baptized in the French Reform Church of Mannheim in March of 1664. He is known as "Abraham The Immigrant". Abraham came to America aboard the "Faith" sometime between 1678 and 1680. He owned land in Ulster County (called sometimes Esopus or Supus) New York, he onwed the land from 1688 until 1690. He then sold the land and moved to Staten Island. Abraham was elected two times as as constable of the First northern Division of Richmond. He was married twice, the 1st. wife Maria Magdaleine Uzille, she is the one that we are descended from. They were married about 1687. Abraham and Magdaleine had one child named Peter, baptized on March 25, 1688. Magdaleine must have died very soon after Peter's birth, because in Abraham remarried again in 1690 to a woman named Olive Gerritszen Cresson. She had several children from another marriage, one was Elizabeth Cresson. Peter the son of Magdaleine and Abraham married her. (His Step-sister)

Abraham La Roe, as both he and his brother Jacques came later to spell their name, located on Staten Island where he was still residing when he made his will in 1702, though prior to 1712, when it first offered for probate, he had removed to the neighborhood of Hopewell, then Burlington county, later Hunterdon, and now Mercer county, New Jersey. His will mentions his children, but not by name. From contemporary records we learn that his sons were: Peter, Abraham, Daniel, David and Isaac.
