About Abner Mendenhall
Abner Mendenhall was born in Chester county, Pennsylvania, and married Lydia Carlton, a native of the same county, and with her he settled in Columbia county prior to 1800. He was a mechanic and cabinet-maker and manufactured pumps, by which he secured the means to purchase a small farm in that county, upon which he settled and lived until his death.
Abner Mendenhall, son of Samuel, married Lydia Carlton, and to this union. were born ten children: Joshua; Mary; Thomas C.; Eli; Mark;. Martha; Abner Lydia; James, and Samuel.
