Biography

Abigail Button was born on 7 Jan 1644, perhaps in Salem, the daughter of Robert Button and his wife Abigail, the daughter of widow Alice Vermaes.[1]

Abigail Button married Joseph Dudson at Boston by 1669 (the year their first child was born).[2][3] Joseph and Abigail had at least the following children:

Joseph, bapt. 28 1st month 1674, Boston[4]; d. 1689[2] Robert, b. 1671[2]
Anderson, in The Great Migration: Immigrants to New England, shows that Barnabas Lothrop had two wives, and Abigail was his second:[5]

m2. 15 Nov 1698 at Boston, Abigail (Button) Dudson, daughter of Robert Button and widow of Joseph Dudson.[6] As Abigail married for a second time on 15 Nov 1698, Joseph Dudson must have been dead by that date, as she is called a widow.

Abigail died in Boston from church records.[citation needed] Her FindAGrave memorial says she died on 21 Dec1715 at Barnstable. She is buried at the Lothrop Hill Cemetery, Barnstable, Barnstable, Massachusetts[7]
