About Abigail Atwood

Abigail Kilbourn was born on July 15, 1694 in Rowley, Essex County, Massachusetts and died on November 16, 1773 in Rowley, Essex County, Massachusetts, widow of Anthony Atwood, at age 79.

She was the daughter of Joseph Kilborn and Mary Trumble. Her father was (Joseph Kilborn Sr.) "slain by ye Indians at Dunstable" 10th of July, 1706.

She married 1st, on Aug. 9, 1727, to Richard Clarke (1677-1730), son of John Clarke & Mary Poore; his 2nd wife: he married Abigail Wicom 1st. He died of smallpox as did their child.

She married 2nd, on 11 Jun 1734, in Rowley, Essex County, Massachusetts, to Capt. Anthony Atwood (abt 1681 - died 12 Jun 1761), son of Thomas Atwood and Elizabeth; his 2nd wife: he married Mary Bugg 1st. They had no children.

  • x. A child, d. June 24, 1730, "by ye small pox."

The will of Richard Clark, on file in Salem, Mass., a facsimile of the signature to which is here given, says in part :

  • "Imprimis, I give and bequeath to Abigail Clark, my dearly beloved wife, one third part of my Real Estate in Housing and Lands during her natural life.
