Managers of AARON THOMAS ENGLAND,
I am contacting you about this profile: Aaron Thomas England
I have two looms built by him, that were used by his granddaughters, Effie and Teanie Suttles, and then came to me.
We are struck by the craftsmanship of these looms, and would like to know more about Mr England if possible. I was told that Effie and Teanie learned to weave as children, and wove all their lives, but I do not know who taught them.
We live in Asheville, NC. I am a weaver (and spinner) as well, and am putting these looms to work. I think Mr England would be pleased.
Sincerely,
Milissa Lynne Ellison Dewey

The Story of the Suttle Girls and Dolly Parton's Cousin
Meanwhile, here are two other looms that seem to be coming this way...
To Alan's huge joy, we are getting these from one of Dolly Parton's cousins.
THIS IS ALL THE LOOMS I WANT OR NEED FOR NOW.
These looms belonged to Effie, Teeny and Trula Suttles. They were weavers in the Walden's Creek area in Sevier County, Tennessee. The girls learned to weave on these looms made by their grandfather in the mid- to late 1800's. They made a living on their woven items until their deaths: Trula died at age 56, but Teenie and Effie lived into their 80s.The small loom is approx. 25 in weaving area. 4-harness made of oak. The larger loom is approximately 34 in., also 4-harness, and made of solid pine. It has a bench.
The baskets of equipment beneath & beside the loom are original and come with them.
