I think a hectic clean up will need to be done as there are lots of duplicates between my tree and this one - which I could not find when I searched for the individuals before adding them....
Thanks
I am a non pro user, not because I want to be but because I don't have the funds to pay as of yet, but I will. I have successfully taken my family tree back to 1640, 1510, and 1492. In a a couple places I've gone back 15 generations from myself. I would really like to go back farther which means having the ability to view some other member trees. Even if I'm only allowed view them at the third or fourth generation, I could find so much. Yes, Geni pro members are doin a lot of hard work and it is appreciated, but I've been working hard too, doin all of my own research my self ( credit of one branch to my cousin). It would still be considered research on a lower level to be able to view a few of the matches that Geni has found for me but am unable to view currently because I'm not pro.
The FREUD tree - http://www.geni.com/family-tree/index/315773591250001676
has Several Merges that need to be Done - and there use to be 3 individuals - who were no longer active - and the profiles had abt. 5 Requests for Merges. Now the Profiles of Sigmund - have Private profiles - managed by Unknown (insted of th 3 previous people). I need a Curator to Fix the Tree - Merge what Needs to be Merged and "Un-Privatize" the Profiles - now Managed by Unknown - OR Merge them if they have Duplicates. Sigmund's tree - should be in Better shape than it is now :)
Agree with Peter. The default for profiles older than 99 years should be public. Personally, I cannot think of any reason to keep old (deceased) profiles private -- but certainly one could make them private if they choose. But when adding for the first time, the default should be public so that merges could be done more efficiently.
Eldon - since you asked - perhaps you can also try Fixing the FREUD tree. It's still a Great MESS - needing many More Merges !!

Thanks, Peter
Peter Rohel (c). I'll do what I can while Eldon merges. I may have a connection to his tree! But be aware, there are private profiles within the zone of privacy. So we will have to live with those for the moment. I'll work on the older ancestors.
I was able to fix a few things with the curator tool "check public," not enough, unfortunately. All the duplicates made by the fake Sigmund Freud (Mr. Unknown) have been reported to Customer Service.
Jaak Tulp your setup for merges was a huge help, many thanks.
