the big tree?

currently you are NOT yet attached to the misnamed "Big-Tree" (it's really a forest). As the second link Bjørn posted explains you can tell if you are connected by looking at the light-yellow "path bar" at the top of a profile.

For example Barack H. Obama, 44th President of the USA IS part of the Big-Tree (and related to most previous Presidents). When YOU look at his profile you'll see "No path found to Barack H. Obama, 44th President of the USA."

When you finally do get connected in, don't expect to be able to find WHERE the connection was made. It could be through an in-law or an in-law's in-law, or a cousin's cousin etc. etc. etc....

so, how do i get connected in? does someone check my profile or something?

you just keep on using Geni, inviting relatives and adding profiles. Eventually you (or your relatives) will find a relative or ancestor in your tree that is also in the Big-Tree. These duplicates will then be merged, and you'll be connected.

If you have information of pretty much ANY ancestor from before 1700 or so, then almost certainly this profile is ALREADY on Geni, so you'll just have to merge with it. Considering that you have entered 238 ancestors, you probably can already find such a connection. Just do some searches for their names on Geni.

Adding to what Shmuel said, the Big Tree means you don't have to create duplicate profiles for your older ancestors. Keep trying to find your ancestor in the Tree, especially before 1800, and try different spellings when you search. Or ask one of us for assistance.

You'll be able to merge your copy of a single profile with a profile in the Big Tree and be connected and take advantage of other people's research, including Master Profiles for some of your historical ancestors.
