Mike Stangel The new Merge Center behaves strangely both with Google Chrome 9.0.597.44 beta, and Opera 11.1156
I am unable to change the pages in Merge Center, no matter if you try to click on the page number or Previous or Next.
It is constantly, and only on the First page!
http://www.geni.com/list/requested_merges# is the embedded link there.

Surprisingly enough the IE 8.0.6001.18702 is ablt to handle it properly. Do you insist that everybody must switch to IE?

Another minor tweak is needed for the layout.
In any of the three above mentioned browsers in Windows, the text in the new dropdown menu is not aligned with the preceeding text outside the dropdown window.
On the screenshots in the blog we can see that this is not a problem concerning Macs.

I spoke too soon.

The Tree Matches tab works just fine for me in Firefox, however the Requested Merges,Tree Conflicts and Data Conflicts tabs all have the issue as Arne has reported.

I've forwarded this to the appropriate people within the company. If you haven't done so already, it might be worthwhile to report the problem to help@geni.com so that we can track it in our bug-tracking system.

OK The functionality is now back, but with a funny layout. The selectable page numbers are now on top of each other. It is universal, Opera, Chrome as well as IE are all the same. In those places where you had earlier problems switching pages, now you have the misalignement. Those places which were not showing this problem still have the normal (left to right layout) of page numbers at the bottom.

Mike Stangel Now there is another issue which I would like to report, and I am a really lazy person who does not want to open an e-mail account specially to report issues about an application where I am having an account, and I am am logged in. I like to report those issues inside this particular application if iot is possible.
So, are you listening? Chrome beta and IE have both problems using the virtual keyboard interface CTRL+SHIFT+K while trying to compose a message in Inbox. The virtual keyboard pops up in two places at the same time: 1. message window 2. search window
It opens up nicely from both places, but you can not use it as you can write only one letter. All previously written text is automatically activated, and will correspondingly be deleted while entering another letter.
Both windows have the same problem. The only difference between IE and Chrome is that in IE you can manually deactivate the activated text by clicking inside the text window, and thus enter another letter.
So in a very cumbersome way yuou can manage writing something in IE. In Chrome it is not possibble as every click on the virtual keyboard will first activate the content so even if you deactivate the selection, it does this CTRL+A type of action again prior to presenting the typed letter.

Opera works as intended.

Arne, I appreciate the frustration in reporting bugs.. I'd really like to see us implement a panel that you can slide open from any page, to submit a bug report. The problem with doing it via direct contact is, of course, that I'm not the only engineer and it would be impossible for me to keep abreast of every bug report (no matter how minor or major) in every public discussion.

In this case I don't have even passing familiarity with the interaction of keyboard shortcuts with our site or particular browsers, however I will draw this to the attention of the engineering team to see if there's someone who can take up the problem.

Thank you!
Just to clarify it. The bug concerns the virtual keyboard which can be very helpful to enter some strange (non latin) lettersのきトはロقلءلففیذفف۶шђф
To get to this keyboard you use a shortcut CTRL+SHIFT+K and voila you have virtual keyboard at every input window on the screen. The shortcut and the keyboard are not browser specific.
Earlier it was working everywhere now it works with discussions as you can see above, but not in search, messages, homepage news window, and probably more.
Browser versions are still the same as above.

Mike Stangel - Geni are remapping a lot of keystrokes as short-cuts to the Translation Tools overriding personal and browser specific short-cuts.

Just take a view source on this page and you will see them.
