Sally,
did you forget yesterday was Valentine's Day? Even curators have personal lives. My ever tolerant hubby does want some attention from time to time.

Have no worries, the curators will be tending your posts soon. Thanks for your patience.

OK, I need help from whoever is curator for the Denton clan...I know there are not as many Dentons in my tree as show up here....I have been doing neccessary merges to clean up this area of my tree...there have been merges upon merges done and it seems like they are multiplying like rabbits! I think that each time I do a merge request 5 more pop up. I am posting the original Denton in my tree here : John Denton I try to handle this myself as much as possible, but this has gotten out of hand...especially the wife "Mary (Unknown)" with 456 possible duplicates. I went through the 456 once, but they seem to still be there, even though there was only one duplicate that matched. Sorry, my frustration is speaking. I have spent 5 hours merging in this one area of the tree, and it seems to be worse!

Dea - I'm not curating this area, but I did try to clean it up for you. Please let me know if you need more assistance.

Could someone please assist with the following merge:

Thanks!

Leslie - done.

@Sherry Thank you. It all started with the completion of a long awaited merge...then went South real quick.

Dea, When you have those unknowns, it sometimes helps to get creative. If you change her first name to Mary wife of ,and last name her husbands. most of the unknowns should go away or at least makes her easy to single out. That is why I am not a big fan of using unknown by itself as a name.

Thanks Janet!

@Eldon Thank you for the suggestion. Usually I will put at least a first name and then (unknown) for the maiden name. If I do not have at least a first name I usually don't bother doing anything. I have seen "Unknown, Unknown" which makes no sense to me.

I think these profiles need a good look, in Fish line... What do you all think?

@dea

Some times you try to fix a profile that has a lot of unknown parents, to see what is what I have used Unknown, Unkown Unknown, Unknown 3, ??, and a lot of other thinks to help in making sure you get the right one. When it is a mix of generations, you can't even be sure of the last name let alone the first, People make some strange merges!

Sally Thomas@sal

did you ask

Leslie Libby - Farrand

she was last on the 9th and added the profile

Yep, Marvin, sure did.

Sally, did you send the other manager Gregory Lee Rice a request to collaborate?

Eldon, no.. I did not, did not realize there was another.

Cannot get in here to make some changes... Bates to Bate, and death of 4 Aug 1768, dau of John and Remember

Thanks!

Greetings all my fine feathered curators ~

I was hoping that someone could remove all parents for 1st wife of Joseph Hull since there has been no last name found for her don't know who her real parents are. (There is an explanation and link posted on her profile.)

There is also a merge pending for her, if someone could do that as well:
http://www.geni.com/merge/compare/3764650?fsession_id=1297945305075...

Thanks!

Leslie,
I have made Joanne an orphan. I have created "not known" locked MP for her parents to slow down the bad merges. By not locking Joanne's profile, users can still work on her profile.

I created the MP for Rev. Hull with a notice that he did not marry Joanne Coffin. If users read the MP curator boxes when merging, we will find fewer bad merges.

Leslie, be sure to let us know if you find this problem cropping up again.
Regards,
Maria

I completed the merge and did the data conflict resolution to ensure that there's no lingering incorrect data there.

Thanks a bunch Maria - you rock!

Thanks!

Leslie Ann, done.

Anyone who can help. I guess there is no curator on this line.
John Denton
OK, I have tried to merge all the mergeable people in this line. I am still getting multiple people with the same names, same spouses, same children, but not merged in the tree. There has been nearly 200 merges completed, and still messed up. Can someone please help?

Dea, can you specify which prfiles need merging?
