R’ Chaim Elazar was born approximately in 5543; he was a talmid of Maharam Bennet from Nikolsburgh. He was a real estate tycoon and extremely wealthy. He was partners with R’ Shmuel Zanvel Kahana, the son-in-law of the Kuntres hasefeikus. This may be why some want to say that his wife Rivka was the daughter of the Kuntrus Hasefeikus, Rav Yehudah Heller Kahana..
However, I do not think this is accurate for the following reasons: Firstly, as can be seen in the Sefer Imrei Meir, which researched the Krausz family, the Kuntrus Hasefeikos had only one daughter. Her name was Nissel, and she was married to Rav Shmuel Zanvil Kahana. Additionally, it can be seen in Sefer Zichron Larishonim that the Kuntrus Hasfeikus had seven sons and one daughter. Although it’s slightly unclear, the fourth one listed is his son-in-law R’ Shmuel Zanvil. (There is some confusion there, for in parenthesis, it says he was a son-in-law of R”I Modron; however, it’s true meaning is that his son-in-law was R’ Yehudah Modran, a talmid of the Chasam Sofer, as can be seen in Imrei Meir, p. 14.) And finally, as we mentioned above, biographies of R’ Chaim Elazar write that he was a business partner with Rav Shmuel Zanvil, the son-in-law of the Kuntrus Hasfeikus; if R’ Chaim Elazar also was a son-in-law, it should have been mentioned.
