At least one pedigree published by WikiTree claims that John Hamilton is that child of John Hamilton of Allanshaw whose baptism was registered at Hamilton on 11 January 1691. However, evidence which proves that this child was the man of the same name who married Janet Young in 1717 has not been brought forward. In the absence of proof of relationship this proposition can only be regarded as NOTHING MORE THAN JUST A GUESS.
